General NSYO Auditions
Each year, the NSYO holds auditions for entrance into the orchestra. These auditions typically last about 10 minutes, consisting of a short solo, scales, study and orchestral excerpts. The auditions take place every May. To view the individual instrument requirements, please select one of the following:
The auditions are open to all musicians between the ages of 12 and up, and take place in May in front of a panel consisting of the Music Director and the appropriate instrument coaches. Candidates are notified of acceptance in May. NSYO members must be full-time students.
A $25.00 non-refundable fee must be included with the application form. Applications must be received by the NSYO office no later than April 25, 2010.
Audition dates are April 26 to May 3 in Halifax by appointment, or a taped audition may be sent in, postmarked no later than April 30.
