Support Our Orchestra
Since 1976, the Nova Scotia Youth Orchestra has been committed to providing young musicians with the finest possible orchestral training and bringing live symphonic music to audiences around Nova Scotia. Our success in achieving these goals over the last thirty years has, in large measure, been made possible by the financial support of individuals, corporations and organizations who share our vision.
A common misperception is that youth orchestras are covered almost completely through student tuition fees and government funding. In reality, tuition makes up only 25% of the NSYO's budget, and government grants only 10%. The rest is made up by donations and fundraising.
Our fundraising projects include:
- Summer car washes
- Chocolate bar sales
- Alumni Bursary recital
- Current NSYO member bursary recital
- Holiday Pops Silent Auction and raffle
- Moragh Parks scholarship raffle
If you would like to volunteer or contribute to the NSYO, please contact the office. The NSYO is a registered not-for-profit organization. Receipts for tax purposes are issued for all donations over $10.
